Jadea Knight is a director and multidisciplinary artist exploring identity, transformation, and connection through film, photography, and storytelling. Rooted in personal and communal narratives, her work examines self-discovery and change, capturing quiet yet transformative moments. Believing in storytelling’s power to inspire and preserve, she creates visual narratives that resonate on both a personal and universal level.
Her solo exhibition, To A Familiar Stranger (2024) reflects her distinctive narrative style, delving into themes of identity and transformation. Knight has also exhibited in group shows such as The CAN Summit (2024) at the CAN Foundation Artist in Residence Studios and A Look Within (2023) at the Visual Arts & Design Center of Tidewater Community College. Her film was featured at the Afrikana Film Festival (2023), and her photography was displayed at the Port Warwick Art & Sculpture Festival (2024), where she won first place for the Award of Excellence. Additionally, Knight has collaborated with the Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA) in Richmond, Virginia, where her creative direction was showcased in the Blkrunway Fashion Show (2023, 2024).
Beyond exhibitions and screenings, Knight has engaged with the arts community as a Studio Artist at the CAN Artist Studios in Newport News, VA (2024, 2025), and delivered the artist talk Conversations in Art: A Journey from Self to Community (2024) as part of her solo exhibition. She also participated in the Cantemporary Workshop with the CAN Foundation (2023), deepening her commitment to storytelling and community engagement through her practice. In 2022, she founded a photography group at UVIR Studio, fostering collaboration and creative exploration within the visual arts community.
